OXJAM CHELMSFORD TAKEOVER FESTIVAL

Hi all. My blog presence has been slacking and I have so much updating I need to get on with. In the meantime, before I even attempt to start that, I thought that I'd let you know what I've been up to.

In May, I was approached to be involved with Oxjam. I'd heard of it before and knew that it was about putting on gigs all in the aid of Oxfam and fundraising for the charity, therefore I agreed. This opportunity, although it is raising money and awareness for a great cause, really appealed to me because I am involved in putting on the first Oxjam festival in Essex.

A lot of great bands have come through Essex within the music industry, however it is not a place renowned for being "cool" or "hip", and I think it definitely deserves its own scene. The festival is to take place in Chelmsford, the heart of Essex, in the middle of October. My official role within the Essex Takeover team is the marketing coordinator, therefore all the press and promotions is coming directly from me which is pretty exciting.

Anyway, it's all voluntary as it is for charity and I want to set a high standard so that Oxjam can continue to grow and get bigger and better within Chelmsford and really help Essex become a credible place for putting on gigs. The Essex team manager and myself are currently creating a team and getting venues organised for the event, and we are always looking for help. This is kinda the point in my rambling.

SO!
If you, or anyone else you know, may be interested in getting involved with a 6 month programme to help create one of the best events Chelmsford is going to see, and all the while raising money for charity, then please get in touch. Whether it's wanting to help fundraise or that your band is interested in playing, I want to hear from you!

My contact email is: harrie_leigh@hotmail.com and just put "Oxjam" as the header.

Sorry I've rambled, but I want to make it as exciting and big as possible, so the more help the better!

H
